Teenage Vision for America Essay Contest

We
want to hear from you! We love reading all the essays submitted to the
$500 American Spirit Publishing Scholarship contest. The Scholarship Committee regularly boasts that many of the
essays they read are encouraging, inspirational, and occasionally just
plain hilarious! They're open, honest, and from the heart. That's how
we know that you have more to say. We want to give you an opportunity
to share your vision for America with us. America's youth of today are
America's leaders of tomorrow. Any one of you could be our President
a few years down the road. What would you do then? Maybe
you don't want to be President (I know I don't). What do you want to
be instead? What do you want America to be like in the future?
What will you do to help our country? Tell us everything and more because
we want to know!
You
might be thinking, "Why do I have to write an essay? I can describe
my vision for America in other ways." Great! You can submit
an original essay, poem, photograph, or photograph of your artwork (please
do not send us master copies of your artwork or photographs). Finalists may be asked to submit additional photos and/or electronic copies of photographs.
Now
you're probably thinking, "Why is this called an essay contest?"
We thought that was the easiest way for people to understand the format
for this contest. Plus, we wanted you to find it. You were more
likely to be searching for "essay contest" rather than "contest."
Don't worry, essays will not automatically be given more weight over
the other artistic genres.
All
of the finalists will have their entries published by American Spirit
Publishing. The winner will receive a $300 cash prize
that they may use however they wish. We suggest you save or invest it
to help pay for college, but it's up to you. Perhaps you'll use the
prize towards campaign expenses, donate it to a charity, use it to start
your own charitable organization, or just pay for gas! Thank you

All
applicants must include an application with their contact information
along with their entry. Only one entry per person, please.
All essays must be original works by authors between the ages of 13
and 18, inclusive (means including 13 and 18 year olds).
Mailed
entries must be postmarked by June 1, 2005. Rush and/or priority
delivery is not necessary. Winners will be notified by mail, phone,
and/or email. We apologize in advance that we won't be able to
respond to everyone who is not selected as a finalist due to the number
of entries we expect. We wholeheartedly appreciate your participation,
and we wish we could let everyone know how much we liked their vision.
